Ajit Johal is a practicing community pharmacist, clinical educator, and assistant professor at the UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Vancouver, British Columbia. He champions pharmacists as integral to the primary care infrastructure and has achieved advanced certification in Diabetes Care, Psychiatric Pharmacy, and Travel Medicine. He has successfully created a clinical pharmacy model by establishing and growing “niche” pharmacy practices. He provides educational programs and lectures locally, nationally, and globally on the expanded role of pharmacists in primary care. Focusing on the “implementation science” behind embracing an expanded scope of practice to improve patient outcomes in a community pharmacy practice.
